Per quattro anni, nel corso di diverse visite protrattesi dal 2008 al 2012, il giovane fotografo e regista israeliano Gilad Baram ha accompagnato il famoso fotografo Josef Koudelka facendogli da assistente nel suo lungo viaggio in Terra Santa. L’esperienza sembra avergli segnato la vita in molti modi, non solo professionalmente, e gli ha fornito l’occasione di realizzare questo documentario dove le opere in bianco e nero di Koudelka sono affiancate ai filmati che riprendono il suo processo creativo e solitario: a Gerusalemme Est, Hebron, Ramallah, Betlemme e in vari insediamenti israeliani dislocati lungo la barriera costruita dallo stato di Israele nella Cisgiordania palestinese.

During the course of various visits in the four year period between 2008 and 2012, the young Israeli photographer and director Gilad Baram accompanied acclaimed photographer Josef Koudelka on his long journey in the Holy Land, acting as his local assistant. The experience seems to have left a mark on his professional career as well as, in many ways, his life, and resulted in the realisation of this documentary featuring Koudelka's black and white photographs flanked by Baram's moving images which capture his solitary creative processes in East Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem and various Israeli settlements located along the barrier built by the state of Israel in the Palestinian West Bank.
Gilad Baram,
nato nel 1981, è fotografo, artista e documentarista. Vive e lavora tra Berlino e Gerusalemme. Ha vinto numerosi premi e borse di studio. Ha esposto in gallerie d'arte di tutto il mondo. Koudelka fotografa la Terra Santa è il suo primo film.
