Drawing on his Iraqi-Jewish heritage, sculptor Michael Rakowitz censures the habitual systems of expropriation of works of art. The artist recalls when he was a child and his mother took him to see the reliefs at the Assyrian gallery of the British Museum. This episode harking back to his childhood stimulated him to explore manners in which the imperialist roles of museums may be subverted.
