Nata nel 1976 a Bombay, Shilpa Gupta è considerata uno dei talenti più promettenti della scena artistica indiana. Attraverso video interattivi, siti web, installazioni, fotografie e performance sonda la società e i sistemi di potere nell'era della globalizzazione, ma anche il nostro immaginario e il nostro inconscio. Indaga i temi del terrorismo legato al razzismo, il fondamentalismo religioso, l'ossessione per la sicurezza, le frontiere alienanti o le aree di conflitto tra gli individui. Seguiamo l'artista nel labirinto di strade affollate e caotiche di Mumbai, fonte inesauribile di ispirazione, e assistiamo alla realizzazione di diversi lavori esposti a Parigi e Lione.

Born in Bombay in 1976, Shilpa Gupta is considered one of the most promising talents on the artistic scene in India. Through the use of interactive videos, web sites, installations, photography and performances, she explores society and power structures in the age of globalization as well as our imagination and unconscious. She delves into the subjects of racist-related terrorism, religious fundamentalism, our obsession with security, alienating frontiers and areas of conflict between individuals. We follow this artist in the labyrinth of crowded, chaotic streets of her beloved city of Mumbai, an endless source of inspiration, and observe the realization of various works exhibited in Paris and Lyon.
